Oliver "Bill" Larson
For nearly three decades, Bill Larson dedicated his life to shaping the futures of students at Mid-State Technical College. As a Civil Engineering Instructor for 29 years, Bill was known not only for his technical expertise, but for his unwavering commitment to student success—both inside and outside the classroom. His dedication to Mid-State extended beyond academics, as he also coached volleyball and basketball during his tenure, mentoring students through teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
In 1986, Bill’s passion for education inspired him to co-create the Kersten/Larson Scholarship with a fellow instructor, ensuring that financial barriers would not stand in the way of motivated students pursuing their goals. Following Bill’s passing, his legacy of generosity and service continues through the devotion of his wife. In 2026, she established the Bill Larson Memorial Scholarship to honor his life’s work and commitment to Mid-State. The scholarship supports a full-time Mid-State Technical College student pursuing a career in Civil Engineering Technology—carrying forward Bill’s belief in education, opportunity, and the power of investing in students’ futures.
