Paul Mattlin Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2023 in memory of beloved Stevens Point Firefighter / Paramedic Paul Mattin. Paul graduated from Mid-State Technical College in May 2000. He used his education to work as a paramedic in his local hospital ED. He became the Portage County Chief Deputy Coroner in 2014 which led him to his dream job as a firefighter/paramedic with the Stevens Point Fire Department where he was promoted to the rank of Captain until his retirement in 2022. It was Paul’s desire to create a scholarship to help others pursue their dreams to serve the community as firefighters and paramedics.
Eligible students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, be enrolled at the Wisconsin Rapids or Stevens Point Campus in the Firefighter Technician or EMT-Paramedic program.
This scholarship will be offered each Spring for the upcoming Fall semester start in August. The scholarship will be disbursed in two equal payments (September and February) provided the student maintains eligibility.
